The KJams Rotary 2 is dual speed rotary simulator. It was designed after careful study of, and testing against, the original rotary speaker. It has a woofer and a tweeter with a crossover at 800Hz. The two speakers run at different speeds and accelerate and decelerate at different rates. The volume changes based on speaker angle, as does the pitch, offset by 90 degrees. Careful testing against the best simulator pedals shows the Rotary 2 is in the same class. Enjoy!
PROGRAMS
The Rotary 2 pedal has two programs, selectable by the toggle switch:
- Single (down) - Rotary with two Speed controls and Horn/Woofer mix control.
- Dual (up) - The same as Single, but with a second Horn that adds a chorus-y effect.
FOOTSWITCHES
- Bypass is a standard bypass/enable latching switch.
- Spd1/Spd2 toggles the rotary speed between the settings on the two Speed controls. See below.
POTS
- Speed controls
-- The two Speed controls set the maximum and minimum speeds.
-- Which Speed control is currently active is set by the Spd1/Spd2 switch.
-- If Speed 1 control is set slower than Speed 2, pressing the Spd1/Spd2 switch will cause the speed to accelerate or decelerate from one speed to the other.
-- If Speed 1 is set faster than Speed 2, pressing the Spd1/Spd2 switch will cause the speed to immediately change from one speed to the other.
- Hi/Lo Mix is the mix of the horn and woofer. It acts somewhat similar to a tone control.
- Volume controls output level.
JACKS
- In and Out jacks are standard mono, right to left.
- Spd1/Spd2 external input functions in parallel with and exactly like the Spd1/Spd2 footswitch.
- Expression replaces the middle/lower control, Speed 1.
-- If the last tap on Spd1/Spd2 has set the pedal to Speed 1 control, the Expression pedal controls the speed.
-- If the last tap on Spd1/Spd2 has set the pedal to Speed 2 control, the Expression pedal does not control the Speed until Spd1/Spd2 is pushed again.
POWER
- Input power is standard center-negative 9VDC.
- The pedal draws 62mA.
- The pedal is safe with higher voltages, up to 18VDC, but we discourage using them.
OTHER
- KJams pedals designed, engineered, and assembled in Holland, Michigan, USA.
- The pedal is based on the popular Spin FV-1 DSP chip.
- The faceplate is solid wood, so every pedal will is unique.
